The Liberal Nationals are calling on WorkSafe to detail what investigations it has, or will be undertaking into the Andrews Labor Government’s hotel quarantine fiasco.
Under the Workplace Safety Legislation Amendment (Workplace Manslaughter and Other Matters) Act 2019, Ministers of the Crown can be imprisoned for up to 25 years if it is found that their actions are negligent, breach a duty of health and safety, and cause the death of a person in a workplace.
It is becoming clearer by the day that the Andrews Labor Government’s mismanagement of hotel quarantine has had a devastating impact on the health and safety of many Victorians.
The public has a right to know if WorkSafe is investigating serious safety breaches relating to the hotel quarantine program, and if prosecutions will be brought against Labor Ministers and others responsible for this debacle.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Workplace Safety, Nick Wakeling:
“The Andrews Labor Government’s mismanagement of hotel quarantine has had a devastating impact on the Victorian community.
“The Victorian community deserves to know that WorkSafe is investigating the failures of the Andrews Government and its contractors.”
