In the last sitting week of Parliament, Labor’s Attorney-General, Jill Hennessy sought to silence the families of deceased sexual assault victims.
Labor only changing tack following a humiliating defeat in the Upper House.
Today in Question time, Labor’s Attorney-General refused to comment on the manifestly inadequate sentence handed to Jackson Williams, following the deeply disturbing daylight attack on an unsuspecting female victim.
Citing the separation of powers, the Attorney-General also refused to join with the Liberal Nationals in calling for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to urgently consider an appeal against this sentence of just a few weeks jail and a Community Corrections Officer.
This despite the Andrews Labor Government previously urging the DPP to appeal certain court decisions, such as that of James Haberfield.
The hypocrisy and double standards are breathtaking.
Jill Hennessy has yet again shown she is not interested in supporting victims of crime or adequate sentences for those who inflict such serious harm on members of our community.
