Daniel Andrews must listen to the raft of experts and healthcare professionals, including the World Health Organisation, who are pleading with him to respond to the reality of what Victorians are dealing with.
The World Health Organisation has made a global plea to world and state leaders to abandon the false “strategy” of community lockdowns, with Dr David Nabarro, the WHO’s Special Envoy on COVID-19, saying:
“We, in the World Health Organisation, do not advocate lockdowns as the primary means of control of this virus.”
“The only time we believe a lockdown is justified is to buy you time to reorganise, regroup, rebalance your resources, protect your health workers who are exhausted — but by and large, we’d rather not do it.”
Victorians are facing a massive economic challenge that is only surpassed by the devastating mental health crisis that is sweeping through our community.
The millions of Victorians who have suffered under lockdowns and restrictions, the harshest in the Western world, need hope – and they are simply not getting it from Daniel Andrews.
A short lockdown should have been used to fix our contact tracing system and equip our medical staff with PPE supplies – but Victorians are still being let down by systemic failures in this inadequate, bungled contact tracing system and our frontline health workers are still getting infected due to inadequate PPE.
Victorians have done the right thing, but they’re being let down by the government who hasn’t delivered on its part of the bargain.
Daniel Andrews’ roadmap has always been completely unachievable. Instead of listening to senior Melbourne doctors and leading epidemiologists such as Professor Catherine Bennett, he has arrogantly dismissed them.
Victorians have done it so tough for so long. Victorians have had enough of the uncertainty and the continual false hope that Daniel Andrews continues with.
