LOCAL SPORTING CLUBS IN MALVERN RECEIVE FUNDING BOOST
· Malvern Baseball Club set to receive $2,957 funding
· Victorian Blind Cricket Association set to receive $1,685 funding
· Grants will fund the purchase of new injury prevention and other essential safety equipment
Two sporting clubs in Malvern are set to benefit from funding as part of round 1 of VicHealth’s Active Club Grants program.
Michael O’Brien, Member for Malvern, said the grants, of up to $3,000 each, aim to increase physical activity by making it easier for clubs to reach out to new participants and fund items or equipment that help them to improve safety.
“I am delighted that the Malvern community will benefit from this funding program in order to provide essential equipment to support and grow each club,” Mr O’Brien said.
“Local sporting teams are vital to the fabric of our community in Malvern. This grant is a great opportunity to inject some energy into clubs and encourage physical activity within the local community”.
“The VicHealth’s Active Club Grants program relieves a cost burden on sporting clubs and keeps sport affordable and more accessible for all”.
VicHealth’s second round of funding is currently open to submissions and closes on Friday 13 February 2015.
